Monthly Recollection

On Saturday, 27th January 2018 the scholastic community of Indian Province spent a day with the Lord in a mood of silence and prayer as part of monthly recollection. It was our usual program where we join along with other scholastics from four other different neighbouring congregations, collectively to recollect the month’s past days and events, actions and emotions. It was Fr Peter Mascharenas SMM who helped the group of young scholastics to move closer to God and oneself. The talk was under the theme "The Praying Hands in Faith"
The talk began with the quote of Mahatma Gandhi, the father of the nation India who said "A man without prayer is like a tree without roots." This set the pitch, atmosphere and mood to understand the meaning and definition of prayer, methods of prayer, need for prayer, quest for prayer and the effects of prayer. This half-a-day secession helped us to self evaluate the spiritual life on the scale of relationship that falls vertically between God and self and horizontally between my neighbours. That can happen only through prayer since it is a power that can heal and transform us. Swami Vivekanandha rightly puts his prayer experience in these words "I gained nothing from prayer but I lost many things like anger, jealousy, insecurity, pride and irritation"

Faith leads us to pray and prayer deepens our faith that enables us to find God even outside the Church. The talk of excellent, enriching and inspiring, it was followed by tea and individual confession then it was concluded with the Benediction. We thank the resource person of that day for his beautiful talk which made us to deepen our prayer life and also we thank the Maria Bhavan community for their availability and for their constant support to make this day a memorable one.
