Theology of Body – Program by Fr. Roy
The well known philosopher Socrates said, “Know Thyself”. In fact this has been the experience of us the Scholastics after engaging ourselves thoroughly with the classes of Fr. Roy Smm on the subject, “Theology of the Body”. As the athenaeum credited some ten days of holidays, the formators in Maria Bhavan thought it would be best to give classes for the scholastics on an important subject that we are unaware of and it was there our Rector found Fr. Roy in advance who is already well qualified in this field of teaching this important topic with wide experiences.

We began the classes on 17th of October on the topic, “Human Life and its Challenges and the Mission of the Church”. Here Fr. Roy focused on the Gift of life in the Bible, the view of Church Fathers on Life, The Magisterial Teachings and some Church Documents on Importance of Life with its Challenges and Practical Solutions. His content was mainly based on the Wednesday’s Homilies preached by St. John Paul II for the public audience (1979-1984) on the topic of Human Person in the Scripture with Theological Reflections. He made the classes engaging with practical tips and experiences from his Pastoral field. He also dealt with the crisis in the Family and the canonical and civil implications regarding the Divorce and marriage etc. It was an enriching experience for all of us as we were motivated and we gained a lot of practical inputs and suggestions in dealing with the people outside in our pastoral ministry. We thank Fr. Roy for his classes and also the formatters for arranging such a valuable and meaningful class during the academic holidays.
